Privacy Policy
GapJam · Effective date: June 28, 2026
This policy explains, in plain language, what data GapJam collects, how it is used, and who it is shared with. GapJam is a social app for collaborative music videos, so — unlike a purely on-device tool — it does store the content you post and the account that goes with it. The summary below covers what most readers need; the full policy follows.
At a glance
- You create an account with an email address and a username. Your profile, videos, comments, and messages are stored on our servers so the app can work.
- Content you publish (videos, comments) is public and visible to other users.
- We use a few service providers: Supabase (hosting, database, video storage), Sightengine (automated check of uploaded video for explicit content), and Amplitude (product analytics — to understand how the app is used and improve it).
- We use product analytics (Amplitude) to improve the app. We do not run advertising or third-party ad trackers, and we never sell your data.
- You can delete your account and its data at any time, from inside the app.
1. Who we are
GapJam is published by Süleyman Felek, an independent app developer based in Türkiye. As publisher, Süleyman Felek is the data controller under both KVKK (Türkiye, Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data) and GDPR (EU, Regulation 2016/679).

2. What data we collect
Account & profile
- Email address — used to sign in, secure your account, and contact you about your account.
- Username and profile — your username, display name, optional bio, and optional profile photo.
Content you create
- Videos you record and publish, and the thumbnail images generated from them.
- Comments and direct messages you send.
- Interactions — likes, follows, and the jams you join.
Device permissions
- Camera and microphone — used only while you are recording a clip, to capture your video and audio.
- Photo library — accessed only when you choose to set a profile photo.
Safety data
- Reports and blocks you create, and moderation outcomes (for example, whether content was removed), so we can keep the community safe and meet our legal obligations.
Usage data
- App activity events — for example signing up, publishing a clip, joining a jam, liking, commenting, following, sharing, and reporting. These events, together with an app-generated identifier and your account ID, are processed by our analytics provider (Amplitude) so we can understand how the app is used and improve it. This data is not used for advertising and is never sold.
3. How we use your data
- To provide the core service: create your account, host and display your videos, and let people jam together.
- To enable social features: comments, direct messages, likes, follows, and notifications.
- To keep the platform safe: automated and manual content moderation, and handling reports and blocks.
- To secure accounts and prevent abuse.
- To understand how the app is used and improve it, using product analytics (Amplitude).
We rely on the legal bases of performance of a contract (providing the app you signed up for), legitimate interests (keeping the service safe and functioning), and legal obligation (acting on unlawful content).
4. Service providers
We use a small number of providers that process data on our behalf (as data processors). We do not sell your data to anyone.
- Supabase provides our authentication, database, and file storage. Your account, profile, content, and messages are stored on Supabase infrastructure. See Supabase's Privacy Policy.
- Sightengine automatically screens uploaded video for explicit/sexual content. When you publish, sample frames are sent to Sightengine's API for this check; they are used only to score the content and are not used to build a profile of you. See Sightengine's Privacy Policy.
- Amplitude provides product analytics. App activity events (such as publishing a clip or joining a jam), along with an app-generated identifier and your account ID, are sent to Amplitude so we can measure usage and improve the app. This data is not used for advertising and is not sold. See Amplitude's Privacy Policy.
5. Content you make public
GapJam is a public, social app. Videos and comments you publish are visible to other users, can appear in feeds, and may be viewed, shared in-app, or reported by others. Please consider this before posting. You control your own clips and can hide them from your profile or delete your account at any time.
6. Content moderation
To comply with app-store rules and to protect users, GapJam moderates content in two ways:
- Automated: uploaded video is automatically checked for explicit/sexual content before it goes live (via Sightengine). Content that fails is rejected.
- Community: every post, comment, and message can be reported, and every user can be blocked. Reported content is reviewed and removed if it violates our Terms of Service. Repeated violations lead to account suspension.
7. Data sharing
Beyond the service providers listed in section 4, we do not share your personal data with third parties. We do not run advertising networks or third-party ad trackers, and we never sell your data. We may disclose information if required by law or to respond to a valid legal request.
8. Data retention and deletion
We keep your account and content while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from inside the app (Settings → Delete account). Deleting your account removes your profile, videos, comments, and messages from our systems. See Delete your data for details.
Some records may be retained for a limited period where required for legal, security, or abuse-prevention reasons.
9. Your rights
Under KVKK (Türkiye, Law No. 6698)
You have the right to learn whether your personal data is processed, to request information, correction, or deletion, and to object to processing. To exercise these rights, contact gjprivacy@suleymanfelek.com.
Under GDPR (EU, Regulation 2016/679)
If you are in the EU/EEA, you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection, and data portability, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Most of these can be exercised directly in the app or by contacting us.
10. Children's privacy
GapJam is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will remove it.
11. Security
We use industry-standard measures — including encrypted connections and access controls provided by our infrastructure — to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to limit access to it.
12. International transfers
Our service providers may process and store data on servers located outside Türkiye and the EU/EEA. Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as the providers' standard contractual clauses) to protect your data.
13. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version is published here with a new effective date. Significant changes are summarized in-app at the next release.
